Nairobi Kenya, 7th October 2019, Amb. Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs today hosted Hon. Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia who is in the country for a two days official visit.
Hon. Jhinaoui visit is historic since it is the first ever official visit to Kenya by a Tunisian Foreign Minister.
The two ministers held a fruitful discussion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters that culminated in the signing of two Memorandum of Understanding, on political consultations and field of vocational training and employment.
CS Juma reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment in strengthening bilateral engagement with Tunisia in the trade, economic and social sectors as well as regional peace and security.
The two ministers also agreed to intensify cooperation within the United Nations framework and other multilateral forums.
“It is worth noting that Tunisia was elected to serve in the non-permanent category of the UNSC for the term 2020/21. We have agreed to work with our Tunisian colleagues as the candidate for the non-permanent seat of the UNSC for the period 2021/22 to ensure a seamless transition in view of our common view of the peace and security in the continent and world,” said CS Juma.
