Kenya Ready for August 2017 Elections, Envoys Assured

Kenya has prepared well and is ready for the General election scheduled for August 8, 2017, the Government has assured Diplomatic Corps in Nairobi.

Speaking during a well attended ‘Diplomatic Corps Briefing’, the Government team led by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Amb. Monica Juma, took the envoys through various the various phases  and individual institutions preparedness.

Amb. Juma was flanked by Interior Principal Secretary Eng Karanja Kibicho, Solicitor-General Njee Muturi, IEBC Commissioner Prof Boya Molu and Registrar of Magistrate Court Caroline Kabucho.

The Envoys were informed of the IEBC’s systematic work to ensure and maintain the integrity of the register by eliminating problems with voter registration such as missing names. IEBC has already done voter register for inspection and verification as provided for by section 6A of the Elections Act, 2017. The exercise took 30 days and the Commission is currently working on amending the register to factor any discrepancies noted during the verification exercise.
