Hon.Wetang'ula toasts to Mr. Aherns during the luncheon
Hon Wetang’ula on Thursday 24th April, 2008 hosted the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland Mr. Dermont Aherns to a luncheon at the Hotel InterContinental.  

Hon. Wetang’ula in his speech noted that Ireland has had a long relationship with Kenya and still has many Irish nationals who have contributed greatly in the education and health sectors. He reiterated that the best schools in the country are a legacy of the Irish missionaries. Hon. Wetang’ula also noted that Ireland has the highest economic growth rate in Europe, a feat that Kenya wishes to learn from.

Image Hon. Moses Wetang’ula today 24th April 2008 met thein coming IGAD Executive Secretary Eng. Mahboub Maalim who takes over from Dr. Attalla Hamad Bashir whose term has expired. Speaking in a press conference held at the Ministry, Hon. Wetang’ula congratulated Eng. Maalim saying it was the first time that a Kenyan held the position and that it was a great honour for the people Kenya.

ICRC HEAD OF REGIONAL DELEGATION CALL ON MINISTER
Mr. Pascal Cuttat, the Head of ICRC Regional Delegation accompanied by Mr. Abbas Gullet, Secretary General of Kenya Red Cross called on Hon. Moses Wetang’ula on Wednesday 16th April, 2008. 

While reiterating the cordial working relations and facilitation by the Government, they underscored the importance of Kenya’s stability, adding that Nairobi serves as the base for operations not only in the region but Africa as a whole. The visit by Mr. Cuttat was also a forum to seek leave from the Minister as his tour of duty in Kenya has come to an end.

TOURLISM RECOVERY STRATEGY
TOURISM RECOVERY STRATEGY
The Kenya Tourism Board and stakeholders in the Industry on Sunday 13th April 2008 hosted a Grand Gala Dinner at the Ivory Burning Site in Nairobi National Park to over 200 visiting journalists from across the globe. This was the culmination of a one week stay and extensive visits in the country to tourist attraction sites and facilities.

The occasion was graced by H.E. the Vice president Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka. In his Key note address, he expressed confidence that lasting peace will prevail in the country following the naming of the cabinet earlier in the day. He noted that the coincidence of the end of the one week tour by the journalists and putting to rest the anxiety in the country was a big boost in the efforts to woo back tourists in the country. Furthermore, the choice of the site was not only symbolic but rekindled Kenya’s determination to protect wildlife by declared that only elephants should wear ivory.
