DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Senior Officer, Information Systems Management Group and the direct supervision of the Administrative Systems Support Team Leader, KCTU, the incumbent will carry out technical work related to the support and development of large-scale administrative applications in accordance with FAO’s applicable technical standards. In particular, the incumbent will:
• Provide second and third-level technical support and problem resolution on software applications in production;
• Analyze feasibility and determine work effort required for application development;
• Prepare technical specifications for application development which will be assigned to other technical personnel;
• Coordinate and monitor progress of support and development tasks;
• Verify adherence of development packages to user requirements and delivery of appropriate and complete documentation, taking appropriate action as necessary;
• Review software related technological developments in areas relevant to FAO’s mission and strategic objectives, in compliance with existing standards and guidelines;
• Evaluate suitability of software to fulfill business requirements;
• Provide status reports on the progress of technical efforts;
• Perform other related duties as requested
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
• University Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field of specialisation
• Five years of relevant professional experience in systems support and development of large-scale applications which included experience of programming and structured system analysis and design with relational database systems, procedural programming languages using GUI and WEB based development tools
• Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
• Depth of knowledge and relevance of experience in development, implementation and support of large-scale software applications utilized in a geographically distributed environment
• Extent of experience with payroll, financial and administrative systems e.g. ERP systems such as Oracle Enterprise Business Suite
• Extent of software development experience with relational database systems, procedural programming languages e.g. GUI and WEB based development tools, including Oracle Enterprise Business Suite (EBS), Java/JSP, Apache/Tomcat, and Oracle RDBMS in Windows and Linux environments
• Extent of experience with system support and development approaches such as Prince2 and ITIL
• Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness working under minimum of supervision and as a member of a team
• Quality of both oral and written communication skills including ability to write clear and concise reports and proposals

* The length of appointment for internal FAO candidates will be established in accordance with applicable policies pertaining to the extension of appointments.
REMUNERATION
Level P-3 carries a net salary per year (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$ 94,072 US$ 121,060 (without dependants) and from US$ 100,780 to US$ 130,154 (with dependants)
