| Qualifications |
University degree in a discipline associated with investigations such as law, accounting, business, programme management or public administration
Three years of experience in fraud or corruption investigation, using investigation techniques and procedures (e.g. investigation or internal audit department in the international, public or private sector)
Working knowledge (level C) of English and a limited knowledge (level B) of one of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish
The Investigation Unit within the Office of the Inspector General is responsible for investigating allegations of fraud and violations of FAOs regulations and rules and unsatisfactory conduct by staff as well as fraudulent and corrupt activities by third parties involved in programmes and operations of the Organization.
Under the overall guidance of the Inspector-General, and direct supervision of the Senior Investigation Officer the incumbent will:
Review and asses complaints and allegations, formulate investigation plans, conduct interviews of complainants, witness and subjects, obtain and analyze documentary evidence, conduct investigative research.
Conduct preliminary and full investigations into allegations of fraud and unsatisfactory conduct.
Participate and collaborate with senior investigative staff in more complex investigations including reviewing and analysing all information to determine its relevancy and reliability, conducting other investigative research activities, determining the appropriate presentation of investigative results.
Draft and edit required written outputs of the highest quality with logical and clear presentations. Written outputs include, but are not limited to, investigative findings, investigative plans, records of interview, investigative reports.
Participate in investigations into assigned complaints of alleged unethical behaviour and employee misconduct.
Participate in inquiries and consultations, interviews and gather other relevant information, including analysis of information gathered, preparation of investigative reports, presentation of facts, circumstances, conclusions and recommendations to support management decisions regarding any disciplinary or corrective action.
Participate in assessing the potential for fraud and corruption in operational activities.
Participate in reviewing investigative findings to identify trends related to fraud and misconduct and weaknesses in the internal control environment.
Participate in the development of the offices policy and procedural framework.
Participate in the development of best practices and other lessons learned from investigative work.
Perform other related duties as required.

Extent and relevance of educational qualifications
Extent and relevance of experience in investigations, investigation techniques and procedures, including knowledge of current IT tools related to investigations preferably in an international environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and ability to write clear and concise investigative reports in English
Extent of interpersonal skills, including capacity to work effectively in a team and take independent action
Efficiency, ability to analyse relevant legal and procedural issues and documentary and financial evidence, discretion and confidentiality
