The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) held its fifty-third meeting in New York on 28 September 2018.
The meeting was chaired by Chair of CMAG, Dr Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Kenya, and was attended by Foreign Ministers and Representatives of Australia, Barbados, Belize, Ghana, Malaysia, Namibia, Samoa and the United Kingdom.
Ministers noted the outcomes of the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), and reiterated the important role of member countries and the Commonwealth Secretariat in delivering a future which is fairer, more sustainable, more secure and more prosperous.
The Group received an updates from the Secretary-General Rt.Hon Patricia Scotland on her engagements in support of member countries’ efforts to promote democracy and commonwealth values.
She also gave an updates on developments in a number of Commonwealth member states.
CMAG also agreed that future engagement with member states facing challenges would be proactive.
