Chief Administrative Secretary, Hon. Ababu Namwamba joined H.E. Mr. Pavel Řezáč, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Kenya, and H.E Mr. František Dlhopolček, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Kenya on the centenary celebrations of the founding of Czechoslovakia.

The event offered a great opportunity to reflect on the strong bonds of friendship that have existed between Kenya and the two countries since 1993.The CAS acknowledged increased bilateral cooperation between Kenya and the two countries especially in agriculture, scientific research, defense, tourism, education, economic, political and regional transition, “We note with appreciation the joint EU-Visegard Group Agricultural development launched in June 2018 in Kilifi,CAS said the project supports 15,000 local farmers in the Coastal region in the production of sesame and cashew nuts.

He informed that an MoU on Trade and Technical Cooperation with the Czech Republic has been concluded, and that the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between Kenya and Slovak, provides for a formation of a joint Committee on Cultural Cooperation, which will further enhance the cooperation between the two countries.

The high level visit in February, 2018 by the President of Slovak Republic, H.E Andrej Kiska signaled an excellent level of increased cordial relations between the two countries, said Hon Namwamba.
“Slovak Republic is keen on expanding bilateral cooperation with Kenya, and has proposed the reactivation of development cooperation between the two countries”
Slovak, through Slovak Aid has also supported over 35,000 rural farmers in processing and exporting macadamia.
Hon, Ababu Namwamba was pleased to note the continued partnership with the two countries at the multilateral level mainly at the WTO and UN Security council reforms. He also sought support from Czech and Slovak Republics to carry out robust reforms that will strengthen and consolidate support to the United Nations Office in Nairobi,UNEP and UN-Habitat,” to enable the two programmes fully deliver on their global roles.

With three weeks remaining to the High-level BLUE ECONOMY CONFERENCE in November 26-28th, the CAS took the opportune moment to gather support from the two countries in mobilizing participation from their governments and business community to ensure a successful Conference.
