Dr. Korir Sing'Oei joins the People of Japan in commemorating Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito in Nairobi
The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, had the honour of joining the Government and people of Japan in commemorating the Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito at a ceremony held in Nairobi. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Government officials, and distinguished guests in celebration of this important national occasion.
Kenya and Japan enjoy a longstanding and cordial partnership spanning over six decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963. Over the years, this relationship has been deepened through regular high-level exchanges, strong development and technical cooperation, and growing trade and investment linkages. Kenya remains among the leading recipients of Japanese Official Development Assistance in Africa, underscoring the depth and maturity of bilateral ties.
Japan’s partnership continues to make impactful contributions across priority sectors, including quality infrastructure development, manufacturing and industrial growth, ICT, education, health, and capacity building. Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan has supported transformative institutions and programmes that advance sustainable development and strengthen human capital development in Kenya.
At the multilateral level, Kenya and Japan collaborate closely on matters of shared interest, including climate action, global peace and security, reform of the United Nations and the international financial architecture, and the promotion of a rules-based international order.
As Kenya joins the people of Japan in celebrating the Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, the Government of Kenya reaffirms its commitment to further consolidating bilateral relations through enhanced trade and investment, strengthened public-private partnerships, and expanded people-to-people exchanges for mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
